  1. It’s not a Hollywood production about Japan unless Hiroyuki Sanada is in it. From the Last Samurai, to 47 Ronin, to the Wolverine, to John Wick and now Shogun…

  2. 千葉真一は英語の壁を克服できずに本人はハリウッド進出に失敗したと話していた。真田広之は師匠を越えたのだ。

  3. I fell in love with the original Mariko when I was a kid. Loved Japanse culture since that original show. And I've fallen in love again with the new Mariko! This is a fantastic show. Some people will be expecting battles and action but its much more interesting. You have to pay attention to all the nuances. But its also pretty gruesome. But not in a visual way. A lot of what happens is left to your own imagination.

  4. Sanada insisted hire real Japanese actors for the Japanese roles, so that we don’t hear funny Japanese when they are speaking Japanese and they have the Japanese manners. And because of that you see the real Shogun battle in the film and so worth to watch it!!

  5. What I'd like to ask from Hiroyuki Sanada is that how accurately James Clavell wrote about japanese culture when it comes to Shōgun (1975) and Gai-Jin (1993).

  6. Really cool to see someone like Hiroyuki Sanada finally getting some major recognition from his work in John Wick 4 and Shogun. Fun fact: Sanada actually shares a birthday with me (October 12)!

  7. One host said it's so much action. And honestly it's not that much when you think of it. It's mainly intense conversations which makes it so much more scary when the action kicks in. Great frickin series!
