  1. Спасибо!!! Куросава – лучший режиссер, все его фильмы – настоящая магия! Как здорово было посмотреть один из его фильмов

  3. I wish Criterion would stop "updating" translations. The old woman's message to Sanjuro about being a like drawn sword was much better in their original translation.

I don't speak Japanese. Maybe this version is a more direct translation of the exact words she used, but direct translations are not always superior at conveying symbolism due to idiomatic differences between cultures.

  4. Fantastic movie but two things: WTF is with grandma's teeth????? Been eating coal dust and black licorice???? 🤣🤣🤣 And the Monty Python-esque blood spraying at the end…WTF?? Two gallons of tomato juice spewing from his guts???? It was great, but seriously…

  5. I've seen this several times, and Mifune is just such a genuine star. On the surface it seems so simple a story, but Kurosawa has all these other things going on underneath that make this so deep and fantastic to watch. The scenes where Mifune is so awkward around the female characters says so much about his character being so closely aligned with fighting. Such a powerful ending.
